Park Ridge CERT is pleased to offer our residents several training and learning opportunities, including:
- CERT Basic Training – Community-based preparedness planning allows us all to prepare for and respond to anticipated disruptions and potential hazards following a disaster. As individuals, we can prepare our homes and families to cope during that critical period. Through pre-event planning, neighborhoods, and worksites can also work together to help reduce injuries, loss of lives, and property damage. Neighborhood preparedness will enhance the ability of individuals and communities to reduce their emergency needs and to manage their existing resources until professional assistance becomes available.

- Workplace CERT Program – A Workplace CERT program can increase workplace resilience by increasing personal preparedness, allowing employees to return to work more quickly after a disaster. For organizations with a large public-facing component, such as grocery stores or shopping malls, CERT can also help serve the public in the event of an emergency.

- Family Emergency Communication Plan – Communication networks, such as mobile phones and computers, could be unreliable during disasters and electricity could be disrupted by high winds that bring Park Ridge trees down on power lines! Planning in advance will help ensure that all the members of your household, including children and people with disabilities, as well as outside caregivers, know how to reach each other and where to meet up in an emergency

- Prepare Your Family – Being prepared for disasters starts at home. Everyone can be part of helping to prepare for emergencies. Young children and teens alike can be a part of the process. As a parent, guardian, or other family member, you have an important role to play when it comes to protecting the children in your life and helping them be prepared in case disaster strike
